Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal, glass carafe, 1979

Tapio Wirkkala, glass carafe, Rosenthal 1979
The Venetian blower Mario Colelli had worked for a long time in Venini's glass cabin as a cabin master and had blown all the prototypes of Wirkkala's objects. It is known that Venini's hiring of a blower for Rosenthal in the late 1970s was
a joint project of Tapio Wirkkala and Philip Rosenthal.
The decanter in the picture was only in production for a short time. So it is no longer produced. In perfect condition only some just visible scratch at the bottom
At Rosenthal, Colelli produced Italian-style glasses designed by the company's international designers, and the objects were sold as special collections. Wirkkala's works - plates, vase and decanter - resemble his Venini objects.
