Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal glass vase 2512, height 34 cm, length 21 cm, width 8,5 cm.
Scratches on the bottom, otherwise in good condition. Signiert Rosenthal. Design in the 1963.
Rosenthal Glasswork rented the Kristal-Glasswerk Amberg in the early 1960s and produced a collection there.
A speciality of this collection were the mouth-blown, coloured glasses, in multi layer technique, created by Tapio Wirkkala. Artistic vessels in flashed glass, as this technique is called were already precious in ancient Rome. A thin layer of different colored glass is fused onto clear or light glass. The layers are firmly bonded together and do not separate from each other.
